Steelers Defense: An End of Week 3 Review
The Steelers defense has performed well for the past two weeks after being picked apart by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
The front seven has performed very well. Stephon Tuitt and Cam Heyward have been in the opposition’s backfield so far this season. Lawrence Timmons is playing disappointingly normal. Against the 49ers, Ryan Shazier played out-of-his-mind making 15 tackles, 3 of which were assisted and one was a sack. Antwon Blake is playing like Ike Taylor in his prime. He made 11 solo tackles against the 49ers and is proving to be a solid tackler, capable of making a difference and possibly forcing a few turnovers if this play continues.
The Steelers outside linebackers Arthur Moats, Jarvis Jones, James Harrison, and Bud Dupree have all been solid, and keeping these players on rotation is a great strategy by the coaching staff. James Harrison is playing at peak performance enabling him to make a big impact when it is most needed. Jarvis Jones is not making splash plays, but he is still playing smart, sniffing out the offense and picking up blockers, allowing others to make the tackle.
The defense has been interesting to watch and is something to keep an eye on, not unlike the offense, now that Le’Veon Bell is back, alongside Micheal Vick who is starting for the next 4-6 weeks.
Are we seriously ok with Micheal Vick on the team?
What choice do they have? I don’t think it will turn out well.
Bold prediction:
Over the next 3 games, Vick will have at least 3 turnovers. Fumble machine
